About Us

Our History and Growth
The cornerstone of our home was laid on 17 November 1967 by Reverend C. Weideman of the Dutch Reformed Church in Montagu, Little Karoo. Initially, we had 4 flats and 47 rooms, providing a safe and enjoyable environment for healthy elderly residents who could knit, go on outings, and participate in various activities. In the 1970s, more flats and a frail care unit were added in response to changing approaches to elderly care. In 1981, we were officially registered as an old age home by the Department of Social Welfare and Pensions, thereby qualifying for a subsidy. In 2022, we expanded with new office space and two life right units, allowing residents to stay until they pass away.
Our Facilities and Services
Located in the heart of Montagu, our home is within walking distance of the library, churches and shops. Today, we cater to 64 residents in need of frail care and 17 who require some assistance. Our 18 flats are available for healthy, self-sufficient elderly individuals who can come and go as they please. Since 2010, we have outsourced our kitchen, cleaning and laundry services to Feedem. We pride ourselves on being a care facility, not a hospital or institution, with an average of 45 volunteers who help us provide high-quality care and ensure the psychological and social wellbeing of our residents.

Our Mission and Vision
As a faith-based organization, we strive to care for our elderly with the love that our Lord would wish for. Our vision is: “Ons reik uit en versorg in liefde” (We support and care with love). We are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where our residents feel valued, respected and loved. Through our committed staff and volunteers, we aim to offer excellent care and support, fostering a community where everyone can thrive.
